As more of the marketing spend has rapidly shifted to the digital world driven by the demands of customers, CMOs and CIOs are at odds at who should control the platform and investment decisions. Shifts to integrated demand programs, social CRM systems and customer communities integrated into corporate Web sites are all fueling the blurred lines of responsibility. In this panel, we will discuss the challenges, opportunities and breaking down the organizational silos to become a customer-centered organization.

Establishing Definitive Proof of ROI for Social and Mobile Marketing Investments

Effective marketing resource allocation has become much more challenging in the modern era of marketing. However, the buzzword ‘attribution’ is everywhere, with subpar solutions trying to solve this challenge. While “Big Data” comes to the rescue, it needs to be augmented by holistic models of resource allocation, not outdated methods such as “last click attribution” “media mix models”, “fractional attribution”, and other “Analytics 1.0” methods. Come learn the latest methods to quantify marketing’s actual business impact, as well as the path to accelerate transformation in your marketing organization.

 This session addresses:

  • Why your analytics and attribution methods are likely not sufficient for today's and tomorrow's decision-making needs
  • The latest methods in quantifying social media's impact on sales and corporate revenue
  • The common misunderstanding of the role of “ROI” as a performance metric, which can result in significant errors in allocation decisions.
  • How the right analytics are essential to bring ‘big data’ to life, allowing for faster insights and decision-making

Why You Will Fail: The Importance of Change Management
Most companies are pretty rubbish at change, which is why so many strategically important projects fail to deliver their expected results. Why? Because usually the project is conceived and perceived as a technology feature project and not a people and change project and yet most are really, at their core, about changing behaviors and thinking even if technology has been used to facilitate this happening.
This oversight is damaging how well our businesses compete and damages employee moral and retention which in turn leads to a poor ROI for the business, often hindering future investment. Too often the aim is to build features and not capabilities. The two are NOT the same. Features make a task possible, capabilities are the complete ability for the organization to complete that task in an effective way (best in class).
Craig and Raj will reflect and discuss existing transformation projects, showing how people and communications were put at the heart of these projects and how 3M monitors and measures the success of these projects including adoption of a range of social programs across the organization.

Predictive Analytics: Great Stuff But What Does it Mean for Story-telling?

As consumers continue to produce massive amounts of data, driven by a growing number of devices and channels, this "Big Data" becomes a highly valuable asset for enterprises that can transform their business into a smarter and more efficient organization. However, there is still a large gap between the data and its application within the enterprise. One challenge is to understand the "story", a logical theme and set of conclusions based on the relevant data set that answers a business problem and provides a solution.  Another challenge is to predict the "story" in order to be out in front of any trends, interests or issues that are surfacing that can generate significant business impact or prevent a disastrous event.

In this panel we will examine these challenges through several examples and use cases as well as an open discussion with the audience.

The Mobile Shopper: Pivoting from Showrooming to Transaction
Showrooming is not a new concept. Even the name brings up visions of 1960's Detroit auto shows where new models were unveiled. Multiple dealerships in the same area offered the same product, most likely at very similar prices. They had to establish a value for their customers beyond the sticker price, and that is exactly what businesses need to be focused on today.

If price is the only deciding factor in a customer's purchase decision, then what is the point of maintaining a brick-and-mortar presence? Learn ways to keep your product offerings engaging and convert showroomers into loyal customers. Recent numbers from Q2 2013 show there is no denying that mobile has become an integral part of the shopping experience along the consumer’s path-to-purchase:

· 68% of consumers are researching products on smartphones before going into a retail store

· 59% of consumers are pulling out their smartphones once inside the store to comparison shop

In this panel, we’ll take an honest look at the mobile shopper and industry leaders will discuss current trends, potential threats, opportunities, technologies, tools, and data insights and analytics. Turn showrooming into showblooming and learn how to use mobile as a channel to enhance the shopping experience and develop more meaningful relationships with your mobile-savvy consumers.
